Haiku Inspired By GREAT U!

Day # 6: Health haiku. Write a haiku about your health focus. 5 syllables/7 syllables/5 syllables. Write as many as you like.

When I saw this prompt, I have to say, it is the one that I dreaded the most. I can remember learning about how to write Haikus in second grade and absolutely hating it. It's been years since I wrote Haikus, so please don't judge me!

Though years have passed, and I now enjoy writing poems, I still did not enjoy writing Haikus. I never liked counting syllables. Though only 3 lines they took me forever. However, I am glad I challenged myself to write one.

These two haikus were inspired by the publishing of The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness' newest publication "Great U - A Gluten-Free Guide to College Living." It is a wonderful resource which was created by one of their student interns, Kelly, as part of her senior project.

Flip through this beautiful magazine and you will find articles about GREAT schools, 5- minute recipes, tips on how to start your own gluten-free advocacy group, and profiles of inspiring individuals!

I am thrilled and honored that I am one of the individuals that the NFCA chose to feature in this digital magazine. Be sure to view this amazing resource a check out my story which can be found on page 22!

Note: There is also a link that says "Reader Feedback" just below the magazine. Please take a minute to fill out the survey to let NFCA know what you think of GREAT U. This survey will help their intern gauge the success of her project, so it's really important for us to get responses.

Thanks again to the NFCA for including me in this valuable resource, and congratulations Kelly on completing a wonderful senior project that will touch so many.

I will leave you with my two Haikus. Have a wonderful Friday!
